Connect Groups

You weren't meant to do life alone!

WHY?

We live in a large city and our community is very spread out. This means we need to pay special attention to building relationship and mutual support networks through our Connect Group structure.

Paul instructed us to build up one another (Romans 14:19 + 1 Thessalonians 5:11), and to care for one another (1 Corinthians 12:25) – this is not the job of an employed pastor, but we are ALL called to be apart of this!

In Acts, the church met in both the temple (equivalent to our Sunday meeting) for collective worship and to hear teaching, and in the homes (Acts 2:46; Acts 5:42).

It says that they did so with glad and cheerful hearts!

WHat?

Connect Groups are a place to connect (Matthew 18:20), a place to protect (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12) and a place to learn and grow (Proverbs 27:17).

In Connect Groups, we have fellowship, we look after our spiritual growth, we seek opportunities to serve in God’s Kingdom, we evangelise, and we have time for worship and prayer.

The fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) can only grow in the soil of fellowship – outside of interaction with other Christians, there can be no fruit!

WHO & WHY?

Our Connect Groups come together in a number of different ways – we have no prescribed formula!

This means that a group could be made up from a collection of friends, or from a group of people who share a specific ministry and want to do it together (as well as grow in ministry together), or from a group of people with similar interests (e.g. climbing, creative arts, Bible Study – there is no limit).

All we ask is that the Bible is read at every meeting, and that the group members pray for each other and care for each other in practical ways.

The big question, which we’ll let you answer, is:
Can you live and grow as a Christian without being part of a Connect Group?
